Spring Electrical Safety Tips

As the weather warms up and outdoor projects begin, it's important to keep electrical safety top of mind. From yard work and landscaping to home improvements and recreational activities, spring brings plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors - but it also comes with electrical hazards that shouldn't be overlooked.

Since May is Electrical Safety Month, Here are some important spring electrical reminders to help keep your family and property safe.

  1. Keep Electrical Equipment dry -Always keep power cord, electrical to
ols and outdoor equipment away from water and wet surfaces. Moisture and electricity are a dangerous combination and can increase the risk of shock or electrocution
  2. Watch for Overhead Power Lines - Before using ladders, trimming trees, or starting outdoor projects look up and stay aware of nearby overhead power lines. Always maintain a safe distance.
  3. Call before you dig - Planning to plant trees, install a fence etc - Be sure to contact your local utility locating service before digging to avoid underground electrical lines and utilities.
  4. Inspect outdoor power equipment -  Before using lawn equipment or power tools, inspect cords, plugs, and housings for damage. Do not use equipment with frayed wire or broken parts, and always unplug tools when not in use.
  5. Use outdoor rated extension cords - When working outdoors, only use extension cord specifically rated for outdoor use and matched to the power need of your equipment

The Importance of Generator Maintenance

A Standby generator is one of the most important investments you can make to protect your home or business during a power outage. Just like a vehicle, your generator requires routine maintenance to keep it operating safely, efficiently and reliably when you need it most.

Regular maintenance helps extend the life of your generator, reduce the risk of costly repairs and ensure peak performance during emergencies. Oil changes, air filter replacements, spark plug inspections, batter testing and overall system diagnostics are all essential part of keeping your generator in top condition.

Even when utility power is operating normally, standby generator perform scheduled exercise cycles to ensure the system remains ready for use. These routine self-tests help identify potential issues before they become major problems. Periodic inspections by a trained technician can help ensure your generator continues to run properly and meets manufacturer recommendations.

At Quality Electric Service, Our factory-trained and Generac-certified technicians provide professional preventive maintenance services for both new and existing Generac standby generators. Out maintenance plans include routine inspections, testing and servicing of the generator and automatic transfer switch to help maximize reliability and performance.
