Spring into a Brighter Home

With daylights saving time and spring right around the corner, it'll be time for late sunsets and warm breezes. But you won't need to step outside to soak up the season. Make your home feel brighter and you can enjoy the freshness of the season inside your home along with outside.

While "spring cleaning" is pretty standard for most, but "spring redecorating" sounds like a whole different beast but it can make a huge difference in your home. It does not have to be anything major. With these 5 tips we tackle lighting in a home. It's just that simple!

Most don't understand that indoor lighting is not only for illuminating your home. It's about much more then that. It's a way to maximize you home's energy-efficacy. You might be thinking this is the last thing you wanted to do this spring is redo / upgrade some lighting, but these little changes can have a huge impact on how your home preforms and the benefits that you will reap.

Focus On Quality Not Quantity: As much as you would like your home to be bright for your family and guest, having lights in every single space does not always mean it will brighten up the area.  If you focus on the quality of the light not the quantity, and you will see a real difference in the space.

Consider Function: A light in a bedroom will not need to be the same brightness as a light located in a rarely used utility closet. You really do not want to treat every room in your home with the same light brightness because you risk washing out an area and wasting energy.

Utilize Other Lighting: Ambient lighting is not always necessary in an area. If you can spare using a task light instead of ambient lighting, you can save energy and use the light for the purpose that it is intended for.

Swap Out Efficiency: Incorporating energy efficient lighting can help control and reduce the use of lighting when it is not needed. Adding controls or dimmer switches to your home is a great way to control the lighting and can help in the long run!

Don't Forget Daylight: One of the easier ways to maximize your energy-efficiency is to use the lighting nature has provided us. By opening blinds, pulling away curtains and arranging the home to where light peaks in, can not only make your space appear larger, it can also help you save on electric bills as well!
